Among them are lists of academics from Jagiellonian University arrested during "Sonderaktion Krakau" in 1939; lists of prisoners in Montelupich prison; maps of Sachsenhausen and drawings of the memorial at Sachsenhausen; correspondence between prisoners and family members; photographs of prisoners and camp guards; publications (post-liberation) relating to Sachsenhausen; artwork of Sachsenhausen inmates Wiktor Siminski, Stefan Horski, Josef Dobes, and Anton Zapotocky; recollections of Sachsenhausen survivors; war crime trials concerning Sachsenhausen; the Sachsenhausen exhibition, 1961; the opening of the Sachsenhausen memorial near Berlin in 1961; hand painted and sketched greeting cards by camp prisoners; Zbigneiew Koczanowicz's "Piesni Obozowa"; and propaganda leaflets issued by the Red Army.

Aleksander (Alexander) Kulisiewicz (1918-1982) was born in Kraków, Poland in 1918. He was a law student in German-occupied Poland when, in October 1939, he was denounced for antifascist writings, arrested by the Gestapo, and sent to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, near Berlin. An amateur singer and songwriter, Kulisiewicz composed 54 songs during more than five years of imprisonment at Sachsenhausen.
